Synth Britannia

I hadn't heard of this (likely because I live in the U.S.) but thanks to @DotAllison I can now try to find a way to watch this documentary!
BBC says it's a "Documentary following a generation of post-punk musicians who took the synthesiser from the experimental fringes to the centre of the pop stage.
In the late 1970s, small pockets of electronic artists including the Human League, Daniel Miller and Cabaret Volatire were inspired by Kraftwerk and JG Ballard and dreamt of the sound of the future against the backdrop of bleak, high-rise Britain."
UK readers can watch it here for the next four days.

The Charlatans (UK) new release

New single "Love Is Ending" is released today, August 2. Get it on iTunes. I'm reserving judgment on this one. It is a little too Stone Roses for me, so far... See video below.

Belle and Sebastian and Eric

As I posted before, this blog has become a mini-aggregation site. With Twitter and Facebook's popularity, most bands and labels are releasing information in real-time. There was a time when just passing along a new release, a newly signed band or a free mp3 gave a blog some merit. Just by signing-up for "newsletters" provided a wealth of information. Perhaps readers of the blog don't have the time to sign-up or do not want their in-box clogged-up. It does take time to sort through all the newsletters, blog postings, myspace bulletins, etc. Posting the odd newsletter blurb from an act that may not release material often was really the goal of my blog. I am not sure this qualifies me as a blogger, as I don't offer much in wordy reviews or opinions. A reader can assume I "like" it by fact that I posted about it in the first place.
So, I will continue to "blog" by passing along info that electronic pop / synthpop / indie pop listeners may have read elsewhere. I hope I can continue to share the new music I find, because I believe that we are still a community of sorts.

Here's a new song from Belle and Sebastian. Video was shot live by a fan. A cheerful song, don't you agree?!
